The figures are in for April 2024 – new milestone reached

This is the impact supporters like you have had in April for stray and community dogs and cats in Thailand.

A typical day at the People and Animals Thailand (PAT) Clinic is far from quiet. We’re delighted to announce that our hard-working team sterilised 231 dogs and cats across Cha Am and Hua Hin in the month of April, surpassing a significant milestone of 4,000 sterilisations since the clinic reopened last year.

With the prevalence of homeless animals on Thailand’s streets, sterilisation remains the most compassionate approach to population control. Puppies born on the streets often face a bleak fate, falling victim to starvation, disease, or road accidents within their first few weeks of life. Sterilisation, also known as neutering or spaying, not only manages the number of stray puppies and kittens born but also prevents their suffering.

In April, our clinic also administered 363 vaccines including rabies, a particularly crucial endeavour to control infectious diseases in Southeast Asia. These efforts play an integral role in stemming the spread of the virus, which poses a threat to both animals and, in some cases, people.

Furthermore, 28 vulnerable puppies and dogs received supplementary food to safeguard them from starvation. And 244 dogs received deworming and parasite medications, 31 were treated for mange and other skin issues, and two dogs received urgent care.

And now for the most heart-warming news of all: Three adorable puppies found their forever home with kind, caring individuals who adopted them, but 3 more siblings are still waiting to find their new families too!
