PAT NEWS: Passing the first 500!!!

คลีนิคสงเคราะห์สัตว์ได้เปิดให้บริการอย่างเป็นทางการมาหนึ่งเดือนเต็มๆเเละได้ทำหมันสัตว์ไปไม่ต่ำกว่า500ตัวเป็นที่เรียบร้อย เราได้ทีมงามของคลีนิคครบทุกตำเเหน่งเเล้วเเละทุกคนอยู่ในช่วงพัฒนาและฝึกอบรมในการใช้เทคนิคที่ทันสมัย, ความเร็วสูง, เเละปลอดภัย เพื่อการทำหมันที่ปลอดภัยเเละรวดเร็วที่สุด

เราต้องขอขอบคุณพลเมืองดีกลุ่มเล็กๆที่ทุ่มเทเเละช่วยส่งมอบหมาเเมวให้เราทุกๆเช้าเเละรอรับกลับในช่วงบ่าย 75% ของคนไข้ของเราเป็นเพศเมีย ซึ่งเพศเมียมีบทบาทสำคัญมากในการควบคุมประชากรหมาเเมวจรจัดในพื้นที่

สัตว์ทุกตัวที่ผ่านการทำหมันที่ PAT จะได้รับการฉีดวัคซีนด้วยเช่นกัน นอกจากเราจำเป็นต้องลดจำนวนประชากรของหมาเเมวจรจัดเเล้วเรายังต้องช่วยกันควบคุมการแพร่กระจายของโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าที่กำลังระบาดในช่วง2,3 อาทิตย์ที่ผ่านมาซึ่งมากกว่า 90% ของโรคพิษสุนัขบ้าสามารถแพร่เชื้อได้ทางน้ำลาย

สัปดาห์นี้เราได้อาสาสมัครจากมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่ามาช่วยเราเเละในอีกไม่กี่อาทิตย์เราจะเปิดให้อาสาสมัครจากทั่วทุกมุมโลกได้มีส่วนร่วมในการทำงานกับเรา เงินจากพวกเขาจะครอบคลุมค่าใช้จ่ายหลักของการดำเนินการของคลินิก กลับกันพวกเขาจะได้เรียนรู้เเละพัฒนาทักษะสำหรับอาชีพของพวกเขาในอนาคต

The People and Animals Thailand clinic has now been opened officially for a month and has passed the major milestone of having neutered the first 500+ animals.

The clinical team is now in place and has been undergoing a period of development and training in modern, high speed, safe and minimally invasive neutering techniques.

Thanks to a small band of incredibly devoted people the clinic has been supplied with a steady stream of patients who are delivered each morning and returned to their home each afternoon. Around 75% of the patients have been females which will have a MASSIVE effect on the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens in the area.

An outbreak of rabies in the district in the last few weeks has not hampered the clinic but has instead shown why such a facility is essential to deal with the problems of street cats and dogs in Thailand. All animals sterilised at PAT have received vaccinations. As well as reducing the street population we are helping to control the spread of this deadly disease. Over 90% of rabies cases can be traced to dog bites!

This week the clinic has been hosting volunteers from WFFT who are testing the waters to make this a sustainable project for the long term. In the coming weeks we will be open to paying volunteers from around the world. Their contributions will cover the continued running costs of the clinic which up till now have been financed by a few generous donors. In return they will be able to develop skills that will help their future veterinary careers and work hands on to deal with a problem that to date no one has tackled on a self funding sustainable manner.

By investing in facilities and equipment to make for an ideal work environment and building a team that are both skilled and enthusiastic this high pressure environment has become a real pleasure to work in. The team are looking forward to the challenges and rewards that the future will bring.
