Success as the PAT clinic expands to a new area for sterilisation and vaccination of stray animals.
The Difference a Year Can Make: Transforming the Lives of Roaming Dogs
At PAT, we work closely with community members, especially those who feed and care for stray and roaming dogs. Over the past year, we’ve collaborated with local heroes like P’Nueng in Yang-chum reservoir area, who is dedicated to caring for the many dogs in this picturesque—but often challenging—area.
Sadly, it is a common dumping ground for unwanted dogs. Yet, P’Nueng has become a beacon of hope for over 100 dogs, doing everything possible to keep them safe, fed, and cared for. It’s an enormous task, but one he takes on with incredible dedication.
In the past year, PAT has visited multiple times to assist – as have many other animal welfare organisations, individuals and groups – it’s been real community effort. We’ve sterilised 40 dogs there and, in September 2023, provided medication to treat around 50 dogs suffering from severe skin problems and mange. These dogs were also vaccinated against deadly diseases, giving them a new lease on life.
Our most recent visit was particularly special, as we were joined by long-time WFFT supporter Joan and her friends, who generously donated many bags of food for the dogs. It was heartwarming to see the impact of their kindness, as well as the progress made over the past year.
The transformation was truly inspiring. The dogs are now overall in fantastic condition, a far cry from where they were a year ago. This is the power of community action. When dogs are sterilised, vaccinated, and have access to medical care, their overall health and welfare improve significantly. The difference is clear, and the photos speak for themselves.
The results of sterilisation and vaccination programs aren’t always immediate. However, one year on, we can clearly see the profound impact we can make together.
Thank you everyone who has supported these efforts. Your kindness is changing lives—one dog at a time.
